According to the Public Relations Office of the Second International Conference on Citizen Sports and Sustainable Development, Dr. Mohammad Reza Forouhi, President of the Conference and Secretary General of the International Federation of Municipalities’ Sports and Tourism, highlighted the successful organization of the inaugural edition and stated:
“The first edition of this conference was successfully held with strong organization, remarkable cohesion, and enthusiastic participation from both the academic and executive communities. Building on that achievement, the second edition is being organized to deepen scientific discussions, expand cross-sector collaboration, and present practical solutions for the advancement of citizen sports and sustainable development.”
Emphasizing the significance of the conference in promoting citizen sports, he added:
“Today, citizen sports represent one of the fundamental pillars of public health, social well-being, and sustainable urban development. A conference of this nature provides an ideal platform for fostering collaboration among universities, urban management authorities, and specialized sports institutions.”
The Conference President also referred to the initiatives of the International Federation of Municipalities’ Sports and Tourism to advance citizen sports in Iran, stating:
“By leveraging both national and international capacities, the Federation seeks to establish the necessary foundations for expanding citizen sports, strengthening cooperation among municipalities, and promoting innovative approaches in the fields of sport and urban tourism.”
Dr. Forouhi further noted:
“Constructive consultations and discussions are currently underway with sports federations and municipalities to facilitate broader participation, institutional synergy, and the effective utilization of the country’s scientific and executive capacities. We firmly believe that citizen sports can serve as a strategic instrument for enhancing citizens’ quality of life and building vibrant, healthy, and sustainable cities.”
In conclusion, Dr. Forouhi expressed his hope that, like its inaugural edition, the Second International Conference on Citizen Sports and Sustainable Development will become an influential, authoritative, and inspiring forum for policymakers, urban managers, and researchers in the field of citizen sports and sustainable urban development.
