In the Name of God,
Today, sport is no longer merely a platform for competition and the pursuit of excellence; it has become one of the most effective instruments for human development, the promotion of public health, environmental protection, and the strengthening of social capital within urban communities. In this context, rowing—with its profound connection to water resources, nature, and sustainable development—serves as an outstanding model for promoting an active and responsible lifestyle.
The Second International Conference on Citizen Sports and Sustainable Development is a valuable, forward-looking scientific initiative that brings together scholars, policymakers, researchers, and sports professionals to develop practical strategies for advancing community sports, enhancing citizens’ quality of life, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Rowing Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, believing that elite sport and citizen sport are complementary and mutually reinforcing, proudly supports this international event. The Federation reaffirms its readiness to collaborate in sharing experiences, advancing specialized knowledge, implementing joint educational and research programs, and promoting the potential of water sports within the framework of sustainable development.
We firmly believe that expanding the culture of citizen sports, developing sports infrastructure alongside rivers, lakes, and coastal areas, increasing public participation in physical activities, and preserving natural resources can make a significant contribution to improving public health, promoting sports tourism, enhancing social well-being, and protecting the environment.
I sincerely invite universities, researchers, urban policymakers, sports federations, non-governmental organizations, and all stakeholders in the sports sector to actively participate in this conference. Through stronger national and international partnerships, and by harnessing the power of science and innovation, we can build healthier, more vibrant, and more sustainable cities for Iran and the global community.
The Rowing Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran regards this conference as an exceptional opportunity to strengthen cooperation among the academic community, executive institutions, and the wider sports family. We hope that its outcomes will contribute to the development of effective policies for advancing citizen sports, promoting the sustainable management of water resources, and fostering a culture of physical activity throughout the country.
Mohsen Shadi,
President of the Iranian Rowing Federation
